A procedure to augment bone volume in the upper jaw (maxillary sinus area) to allow subsequent implant placement. Makes safe implantation possible even when bone volume is insufficient.

Careful elevation of the sinus floor membrane

Implant placement — immediately or after healing (3–6 months)
Avoid blowing the nose or creating pressure for the first few days
If the implant is placed later, bone healing time of 3–6 months is required
Mild swelling and a feeling of nasal congestion near the sinus are normal
